High myopia is the sixth leading cause of blindness in China

Abstract: due to abnormal intraocular nutrition metabolism, lens dystrophy and metabolic disorder in patients with high myopia, turbidity gradually occurs, vision gradually decreases, and complicated cataract occurs.

1. Retinal detachment

the retina of patients with high myopia is very prone to perforation. Some of the perforation has been formed in the hole. In addition, vitreous liquefaction and increased mobility lead to retinal detachment. In retinal detachment, 70% are high myopia. If not treated in time, it can cause irreversible permanent blindness.

2. Cataract

due to abnormal intraocular nutritional metabolism, lens nutritional disorder and metabolic disorder in patients with high myopia, gradually turbid, gradually decreased vision and complicated cataract.

3. Macular hemorrhage and macular degeneration

high myopia has insufficient intraocular blood supply, which may lead to macular hemorrhage over time. In fact, this is OK, but frequent macular hemorrhage is bound to cause macular degeneration, which will permanently damage vision.

4. Glaucoma

according to statistics, 30% of high myopia have glaucoma, which will cause the gradual loss of vision.
